Drop the Ball

What's so great about balance anyways?

Who came up with the word balance anyway? The concept of balance is a blazing force towards fulfillment in our culture.
But have you ever thought about how hard balance is to keep and sustain? Think about the picture of balance-A beam, balancing on a ball, the tip of your toes, a tight rope, spinning a ball on your finger.
To put it bluntly, balance is exhausting and takes all of our focus! The illusion of balance is a constant vacuum, stealing all of our attention to obtain a moment… And only a moment if you’re lucky.
So I ask, why do you want balance?
I follow a guy on FB, Scott D. Clary. He gets right to the point and he made a statement that
changed my life – balance doesn’t exist.
The science backed him up. When we do one thing we’re giving up something else.
Unless your finances are unlimited, this applies to money. You have 20 bucks, spend it, and then there’s no magical reappearance of the 20. It’s gone.
Unless you’re infinite, this applies to your time. You spend time on work/hobby/_, there’s no magical reappearance of that time. It’s gone.
I think you’re catching the drift. When we do one thing, ultimately, we’re saying no to something else.
Nowhere does Jesus mention balance in his teachings. Nowhere in Scripture is balance as a way of life mentioned, let alone a concept to focus on, or a state of being to attain.
Jesus is an all or nothing kind of guy. So were all of the historical changemakers in the Bible.
I personally want to chase what he did – love, friendship, empathy, compassion, patience, life, freedom.
I want to drop the ball. I want to drop the illusion of Balance.
My challenge, dear ones, is to drop the ball.
Let it go.
Replace the illusion with His easy yoke, light burden, and grounded peace.
Love big. Laugh more. Abide.
It’s ok. Just do it. Drop the ball.
Remember, what’s so great about balance anyway?
